In profound sadness, we mourn the loss of Betty Lorraine Kenlon, a cherished member of our firehouse family. Betty was a charter member of the AVFD Ladies Auxiliary. Our deepest condolences go out to her loved ones during this difficult time.

 

“Betty Lorraine Kenlon, 94, of Accokeek, Maryland, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023. Born on August 21, 1928, in Anacostia, Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Margaret A. Robey. A homemaker and mother, Betty enjoyed spending time in Ocean City swimming in the Atlantic or just hanging out on the porch listening to the ocean. She was a long time member and charter member of the Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Kenlon and daughter Jo A. Kauffman.

Betty is survived by her three children; daughters Jean Kenlon, Joy Dunlap with her husband John, and son Joseph (Patrick) Kenlon with his wife Cindy; son-in-law Frank Kauffman; six grandchildren, Cory Frye (Ann), Cristi Mason, Laurie Keith (Mike), Rachel Bozick (Eric), Kristin Fenwick (Ryan), and Matthew Kenlon; eight great grandchildren; and sisters Madeline Anawalt, Millicent Spotz, and Ruth Dominic.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 10AM until time of service at 12:30PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.”
